Compare text.
Compare two versions side by side. Find added, removed, and edited text without uploading either version.
Shortcuts
Ctrl/⌘ + Alt + C: compare · S: swap · R: clear (confirmation)
Add both versions above, then compare. Added and removed text is marked with + and −.
See exactly what changed.
- Paste the original and revised text, or import UTF-8 .txt files.
- Choose whether to ignore whitespace at the start and end of each line.
- Compare, then move between change blocks with the arrow buttons.
Line endings (CRLF, CR, LF) are compared as LF. A final newline remains a meaningful empty line. Ignoring whitespace trims line edges for comparison only; your original text is preserved. Long or complex edits may show a whole changed line instead of individual characters.
Use UTF-8 plain text, up to 1 MB and 20,000 lines per input.

Common questions
Does this detect similar meanings or plagiarism?
It compares characters and lines and highlights additions, deletions and edits. It does not assess meaning, plagiarism or originality. Different wording produces differences even when the meaning is similar.
Which files can I import?
Paste plain text or import UTF-8 .txt files, up to 1 MB and 20,000 lines per input. PDF, Word documents and images are not supported directly; extract the plain text first. Text stays in the current tab's memory.
